Welcome to Belcastel

Built a thousand years ago on a gigantic rock, this magnificent fortress rises above one of the most beautiful villages in the Aveyron region of France.

Only recently was this private chateau, with its lush courtyards, medieval chapels, prison and superb views, opened to the public. A self-guided tour, rich with historical information, leads visitors over the moat and throughout the castle and its grounds.

Visit the many courtyards, galleries, and grand rooms of the castle.

The castle and its galleries are open daily from April 1 through November 10, 2017

Admission includes written tour booklet during visit. (Available in English, French, German, Japanese, Spanish, and Russian.)

Chateau visit averages 60 minutes.

The village of Belcastel is located in Aveyron, half-way between Villefranche- de-Rouergue and Rodez (20 km West from Rodez)

The village has 5 parking lots with 172 pay-spots available in total.

The easiest way to reach the château via public transport would be to fly into Rodez, or take a train to Rodez, and then a taxi to Belcastel

The village of Belcastel and the Chateau itself can accommodate large tour groups. Review the information below, and email the Chateau or the Mayor’s Office with any further inquiries and/or for reservations.  (Tour Bus Capabilities – Up to 11.5 meters on the Castle Road. The village has 5 parking lots with 172 pay-spots available in total.)

Then came lunch, go for a picnic or regional specialties. Finally, spend your afternoon visiting the village and do not miss the magnificent Museum of the Forge and Old Crafts.


Other Possibilities

The Chateau de Belcastel is available for extraordinary events. The interior of the castle is available, as are the grounds and courtyards. Catering is not included or handled by our staff, although we provide a list of local companies that do. Some local restaurants may be available as well.
