CREATURA exhibition

For the first time, an exhibition and interactive experience featuring medieval mythological creatures are presented as a historical novel within a 10th-century military fortress. Following the “Living Dragons” exhibition, Creatura brings together a collection of tales that brought them to life centuries ago. In the castle’s main gallery, medieval-style banners display portraits of various medieval beasts, along with their journeys and fantastical stories.

This rich educational experience is presented to visitors in a unique way. After learning about the fascinating history of fifteen creatures from an academic’s perspective, the creatures themselves tell their own fantastic stories about the lives they have lived.

Since ancient times, mythology and monsters have fascinated people all over the world. Magical creatures have been brought to life by storytellers through theater, song, and dance. Later, heroic tales came to life as these creatures were painted, sculpted, or embroidered into tapestries. More recently, in film and video games, breathtaking special effects have enabled incredible interactions between dragons and their human partners, unlike anything seen before. Then and now, mythological creatures symbolize humanity’s greatest hopes, fears, and most passionate dreams.
